"Pause" is from Drake Elliot's upcoming album (as a solo artist) called "Mother Frog," due to drop in early February on Raw Pop Syndicate, a record label out of St Petersburg, Russia. The vocal melody does contain hope and that hope expands and breathes in a sigh of relief during a beautiful coda "you take a trip on a weekend / you take a little vacation / you deserve it". The sort of slow core, plodding cadence built around the guitar rhythm and elegant sadness punctuated by potent bass, dreamy guitar lines and drones of keys swells around you further pulled me into the semi dark fray. It may of been the dominant melody within the acoustic strum or Elliot's engaging somber vocal aesthetic singing, "well, I felt like a sick pet / sickness spread through my spine." but what hooked me solidly was the eerie, plaintive distant wail of a violin that for me pulled me back to the mid 80's and early 90's for some reason. I don't know what first attracted me to "Pause" by singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Drake Elliot.
